Why Prickly Pear Seed Oil Is So Expensive

Prickly pear cacti flower around June, then bear fruit once a year.

Approximately 100 seeds can be harvested from a single fruit. Since cactus fruit is sticky, the seeds are carefully removed, washed, dried in the sun, and excess moisture is evaporated. From there, the oil is extracted using the cold-press method (extracted at low temperatures to prevent oxidation). It is a slow process, with the oil dripping out drop by drop, but each drop is carefully extracted. Seeing the extraction process makes you appreciate how precious the oil is.

As there are vague explanations regarding the amount of cactus oil extracted, allow me to reiterate. From 8 tons of cacti, approximately 800 to 1000 kg of fruit are harvested by hand, from which about 23 to 25 kg of seeds are obtained.

Only about 1 liter of oil can be produced from these seeds.

It is a very precious and labor-intensive oil. It feels like you are applying the plant's energy directly to your skin. It can also be used on delicate areas of the skin, such as around the eyes.

Our ingredients are sourced from a specific region. Facing the Atlantic Ocean, sea mist falls on the cacti daily, and we only use fruit from this mineral-rich region as our raw material. You will experience a rich aroma and moist texture that cannot be achieved with products from other regions.
