Quality of Moroccan Cactus Oil
In the southern region of Morocco, the Atlantic coastal soil has long been a thriving area for cactus cultivation.
Heading south in search of quality, we found mountain slopes covered with plump, healthy-looking cactuses, their fruits and pads appearing rich in nutrients.
These cactuses bore abundant fruit.
The local Berber people have fully utilized and coexisted with the cactus.
Cactus fruits are harvested in July. They are delicious and everyone loves them.
The fruits used to extract Moroccan cactus oil are carefully monitored for growth, their size is individually assessed, and then they are meticulously picked.
The seeds used in the oil are essentially from three types of cactus.
These three types of fruit have local names, and their growth and harvest times vary slightly.
The seeds from each of the three fruits are of high quality, and by blending them, an even more effective oil is created.
The process of harvesting and separating the fruit from the seeds is very arduous.
Many women gather at the factory, meticulously and quickly performing each step.
The separated fruit parts are used for juice or jam.
The extracted seeds are washed, dried, and then repeatedly and carefully checked by hand for any contamination from debris, stones, cactus flowers, or thorns.
I had the chance to help, and it was a very demanding task requiring intense concentration.
I can understand why they have mint tea with plenty of sugar during breaks.
It's a process that requires full mental and physical effort.
Experiencing this process made me feel even more strongly about cherishing and carefully using the oil.
The photo shows the small stones, flowers, and thorns that were removed by hand.
When quality and excellent working processes come together, it's natural that the best product is created.
In their natural environment, the cactuses are constantly observed, their condition assessed, and harvested with continuous care.
The finished oil's aroma and feel may vary slightly depending on the year's rainfall and soil conditions.
In today's world of abundance, our cactuses return to the soil,

This oil could only be created by producers with extensive botanical knowledge.
